Thanks for clicking over and checking out our volunteer page. As you can see, we’re in need of a few good folks to help us keep moving forward and growing as an organization. Admin Coordinator: You’re a juggler, but without all the bowling pins, sharp knives or plastic fruit. Your passion for organization matches your attention to detail and you get all warm and fuzzy when a plan comes together. Multi-tasking is your motivation and organization is your engine. Sound like you? Sounds good! Preparing meeting agendas, maintaining our calendar, taking and posting minutes and keeping up with our volunteers are just a few of the tasks you’ll make look easy.

Campaign Tech Team: You’re bilingual, but your “Rosetta Stone” unlocks the language of the machines and harnesses their power to do your bidding. Sounds pretty epic, right? Well, as a Campaign Tech Team member for Onward Oregon, you’ll use your vast powers for the greater good, helping us maintain and update content in all areas of our site and across various platforms. You’ll also track and update active email alerts and put together reports so we’ll know if any of our ideas have transformed from message to meme. Experience in Web site maintenance, HTML and database management systems is preferred, but training will be provided.

Campaign Writer: You speak from the tips of your fingers, with open ears, an eye for detail and a compelling voice. You write clean copy that speaks to a range of research and will reach statewide, to as many as 150,000 Oregonians. Equal parts communicator, collaborator and storyteller, Campaign Writers produce content used in our email alerts and on our web site. You’ll work closely with the campaign management team, tech team and other Onward Oregon team members, taking provided language and research from mere notes on a page and transforming it into a narrative that will be both widely read and, potentially, hugely influential.

Campaign Manager: When Onward Oregon sends out an alert, up to 150,000 Oregonians get the message. But it doesn’t just happen automatically: Ideas become campaigns, research becomes content and words become action. It’s a process, and one that takes an all-hands-on-deck approach to manage. Campaign Managers are both the glue that holds it all together and the folks that lead the charge, helping oversee campaigns and providing integral input and encouragement along every step of the way. They work with OO partners, fellow volunteers and others, defining and carrying out each campaign. Campaign Managers are goal-oriented, like to learn and get an inordinate amount of satisfaction from working with others getting things done right.

Fundraising Coordinator: With apologies to Biggie Smalls, the more money we come upon, the more progress we see. True, Onward Oregon may be a lean, mean e-mailing machine now, but we aspire to reach higher! Of course, big plans often come with a bigger budget, and we need someone who can bring home the bacon (Mmm… bacon) and help bring our budget from modest to more substantial. So if you’re a self-starter with some experience — or at least some interest — in development, we’d love for you to help hone our fundraising $trategy and lead the activities you brainstorm. But you won’t have to go it alone: Other OO volunteers will be at your side and you’ll get invaluable advice and elbow-rubbing time with the fine folks at our partner organization, The Bus Project.

Community Coordinator: The ‘burbs aren’t just a great place to live, play and learn, they’re also home to key swing-voting legislators who regularly proclaim their location — outside Portland’s city limits. But just like folks in the city, Washington and Clackamas County residents strive for sustainable, economically viable communities, and their concerns, hopes, dreams and ambitions need to be both heard and understood. And that’s where you come in: A community coordinator would help us carry on a dialogue with a small subset of our 150,000 readers — their neighbors. We’ll work with you to develop sample questions and responses and you’ll get the conversation going, creating small groups throughout flourishing communities like Beaverton, Hillsboro, Oregon City, Milwaukie and beyond to help Portland’s suburbs become a model for the nation in the 21st century.
